Part 1: Affection
January 21, 2018 – Chris Plekenpol
The word “passion” in modern culture usually refers to romance novels or adult entertainment. However, the word passion was originally defined as the suffering of Jesus Christ as he went to the cross. Starting in Matthew 26, Chris Plekenpol and Phill Kwon will guide WBCC through what it meant for Jesus to go to the cross for Jesus, for his disciples, for their contemporaries, and for us. Chris starts the Matthew’s Passion series with a sermon on Matthew 26:1-16.
Part 3: Confidence
February 04, 2018 – Chris Plekenpol
It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and as Tom Brady finds confidence in his own abilities and finds hope in winning the next big game, we can find confidence in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. This week, Chris leads us through Matthew 26:30-46, where Jesus prays to the Father in weakness, looking for another way without going to the cross, but having confidence in the Father’s will.
Part 4: Control & Surrender
February 11, 2018 – Phill Kwon
In Matthew 26:47-56, Judas fights for control of his situation through manipulation, money, and cunning, and Peter fights for control through physical violence. Culture tells us that if we can take control of our lives, we can put happiness into our own hands. This week, pastor Phill shows us how we can surrender control through obedience to find life.
Part 12: Doubters Welcome
April 8, 2018 – Chris Plekenpol
Everyone has doubts about their faith, including the disciples themselves and influential Christian leaders like Billy Graham. It’s no surprise to Jesus, and he calls everyone, even those who doubt, to go all in with him on the Great Commission.
