Whenever I first became a Christian I would hear other Christians talking about how easy prayer was. Prayer, they would say, is just talking to God. It made it sound so simple. Being a Christian now for almost two decades, I have come to the conclusion that prayer is something we need to be taught. The disciples needed to be taught how to pray. Think about that, they never asked how to raise someone from the dead, they never asked to learn how to walk on water, and they never asked how to teach, preach or even for leadership lessons. They asked how to pray. Jesus didn’t respond with, It’s just talking to God. He gave them a right way to pray. And if there is a right way to pray, then there must be a wrong way. In this three part series, we learn from Jesus, as he answers the request, Teach us to pray.
